How long will the results last after the treatment?

There are a few different factors that can affect the longevity of your permanent makeup. It also depends on how well you look after your permanent makeup and your skin type. Following the aftercare instructions I recommend is the key to getting the most out of your permanent makeup, especially during your initial healing.

–    Regular sunbed use or frequent sun holidays can make the pigment fade faster as well as having regular facials that involve skin peels. However, this can be limited through using SPF products.

–     I recommend having an annual Colour Boost appointment to keep your permanent makeup looking fresh, some people will only need these every 18 – 24 months but others more frequently depending on your skin type and lifestyle factors mentioned above.

–     After your initial treatment and top up appointment semi permanent brows will last for 12-18 months, after this a colour boost is recommended every 1.5- 2 years. Lip blushing results will last for 2-3 years after a touch up appointment and a top up is recommended when desired to refresh the colour.

I’ve written a blog (link to aftercare blog) on some of my top after care tips if you want any more information on looking after your permanent makeup and microblading.

The difference between tattooing, permanent make up & semi permanent makeup…

Some of my clients will say is this a bit like a tattoo?

 –   Essentially the treatment uses similar principles to tattooing as it involves implanting pigment into the skin with a needle.  The main difference between semi-permanent and permanent makeup is the depth of the penetration of the skin and the pigments used during treatment.
–    The skin is comprised of three layers, with the epidermis being the outermost layer. Semi-permanent makeup techniques implant pigments in the epidermis. This means it may not last as long as a permanent technique, however, the results are very pleasing and most importantly, natural looking.
–    Pigments used vary for each treatment with lips, eyeliner and the Ombre eyebrow technique using more concentrated permanent-based ingredients and hair stroke brows using more natural based ingredients.
Does semi permanent makeup hurt?

During your treatment I take every precaution to reduce discomfort.

–    Before the treatment begins I apply a pre numbing cream to reduce sensitivity to the area.

–    After this all you will feel is a scratchy feeling for about 30 seconds while I outlie the shape and then apply a more concentrated numbing cream, after this you wont feel a thing! I will ask as we go along how you are finding it as I know everyone has different pain thresholds.

Is there anything you should avoid before a permanent makeup appointment?

There are a couple of things that you need to bare in mind before the treatment.

–    It’s important that you don’t have Botox, fillers or a chemical peel for a minimum of two weeks prior to the treatment.

–    If you have any kind of skin condition or irritation please let me know.

–    I advise to have a patch test before the treatment and this can be discussed. It’s also worth noting that permanent make up is not suitable for those wo are pregnant.

I have quite fair brow hair/ not much at all, can i still have permanent makeup and will it look natural?

During the treatment process pigments can be mixed to create bespoke colours for each client to suit your skin tone to ensure the results look natural.

–   It is important to remember that immediately after the treatment, colours can look different tones in the skin of each person.

–   It is once the brows/ lips or eyeliner is healed that will show the true healed results. I have lots of clients with not much eyebrow hair or clients who have lost the colour or definition in their lips and this is why they come to me and would like the treatment to be done, to naturally enhance their features again! I love the before and after results in treatments like this, it really is amazing what a difference brows can make!
